Clarity on the complexities of cabin design.
What is the typical lead time for a fully bespoke interior?
For a green (unfinished) heavy jet, the design, engineering, certification, and installation process typically requires 12 to 18 months. Retrofitting an existing cabin can take 4 to 8 months, depending on the scale of structural changes.
Can residential furniture be installed in an aircraft?
Strictly no. All components must pass FAA or EASA crash dynamics tests (including 16G forward loading) and rigorous flammability standards. Residential furniture lacks the structural hardpoints required to bolt securely to the aircraft seat tracks.
How do materials impact the aircraft's range?
Every pound added to the interior translates directly into increased fuel burn. Adding heavy solid woods or metals can significantly reduce the maximum nautical mile range of the jet, which is why we utilize ultra-thin veneers bonded to lightweight composite honeycomb cores.
What is a burn certification?
Aviation authorities mandate that all cabin materials (leathers, foams, carpets, veneers) must self-extinguish within a specific timeframe when exposed to a vertical flame. Materials that do not meet FAR 25.853 standards cannot legally be flown.
Can a cabin be retrofitted with newer Cabin Management Systems?
Yes. However, upgrading a CMS often requires stripping the cabin down to the aluminum ribs to run new fiber optic cabling, power buses, and routers, making it an extensive and costly procedure.
Why are jet bathrooms called lavatories?
It is traditional aviation parlance. Today, bespoke VIP lavatories feature vacuum flush systems, engineered stone vanities, large windows, and sometimes even full stand-up showers aboard ultra-long-range models.
